Beauty Pageant

Founder of the pageant, Monica Sanchez, has been visiting Montserrat at the request of the Chief Minister and Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr Lowell Lewis, to discuss including the island as part of the host venues for 2007.

Miss Sanchez said, “I have seen your new Cultural Center and I love what I see, my mind is already racing about what we could do and how the venue would accommodate one of the earlier events of the Miss CARICOM International Beauty Pageant. I can definitely say that we can hold at least one of the pre-show events here because we have four of these events before the pageant.”

The Miss CARICOM International Beauty Pageant is in its third year, it features contestants from around the world including Africa, Haiti and Panama.

It was first held in 2004 in Guyana with US actor Danny Glover as one of the main judges.

The 2006 Miss CARICOM International Beauty Pageant was held on September 9, at the Apollo Theatre in New York, Miss Belize was crowned the winner.
