British actor charged with rape in Barbados

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: A British actor has been charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in Barbados.

But Benedict Paul Freeman, who plays Scott Windsor on ITV’s ‘Emmerdale’, was allowed to return home to continue his work in front the cameras after providing $100,000 bail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Clyde Nicholls. He will have to return to Barbados on March 15 for his hearing.

The 26-year-old Freeman is accused of having unlawful sex with the British teenager without her consent. He is being represented in the matter by attorney-at-law Desmond Sands.
