PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Trinidadian national, 28-year-old Rashim Ibrahim De Silva, is one of two persons missing following the disappearance of an aircraft between Bequia and St Vincent & the Grenadines.

There are reports that parts of the wreckage from the plane have been found by a fisherman. However, neither the pilot nor his sole passenger have yet been spotted.

According to reports, the five-seater aircraft piloted by Dominic Gonsalves left Canouan Island at 6.45 pm on Sunday. At 6.50 pm the pilot radioed the tower at the ET Joshua International Airport telling them he was flying over Bequia and that he was five minutes away.

That was said to be the last transmission from the pilot, who was flying 1,100 feet above sea level at the time. Around 10 pm airport officials noticed that the plane had not landed and a search began.

Officers of Trinidad and Tobago's Special Anti-Crime Unit have been asked by the Government of St Vincent & the Grenadines to join a special search and rescue effort to find survivors of the aircraft.

In a televised session of Parliament on Monday, SVG Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves also requested assistance from the United States and Venezuela.
