Guyana president discusses enhanced cooperation with opposition parties

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (GINA): Guyana's President Bharrat Jagdeo on Friday met Leader of the Opposition and PNC/R, Robert Corbin, and representatives of parliamentary political parties to discuss the furthering of the framework for enhanced political cooperation.

Jagdeo during his address to the opening of the Ninth Parliament said, “...I have already signalled my intention to join forces with the political opposition and find innovative ways to work together to solve our problems. This will be pursued within an enhanced framework for political cooperation, encompassing the principles of increased meaningful contacts...”

The meeting was described by the Office of the President as cordial.
