Puerto Rico's Doral names new financial chief

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Bloomberg): Doral Financial Corp., Puerto Rico's largest mortgage lender, has named Marangal Domingo as its chief financial officer to replace Lidio Soriano, who resigned.
Domingo will continue as Doral's treasurer and chief investment officer, San Juan-based Doral said Wednesday in a statement. Cesar Ortiz was named comptroller and chief accounting officer.
The lender last month agreed to pay a $25 million fine for overstating earnings between 2000 and 2004. Doral neither admitted nor denied allegations in agreeing to the settlement, the US Securities and Exchange Commission said in a statement at the time.
Doral spokeswoman Lucienne Gigante didn't return a voice-mail message left after the close of regular business hours.
