Friday, October 27, 2006
NEW YORK, USA: Air Jamaica has recognised its most effective tour operators and travel agents in the Northeastern United States for Caribbean business booked on the carrier in 2005.
At an event held at The Water’s Edge Restaurant in Long Island City, Queens, Air Jamaica executives bestowed honours on leading tour operators and travel agencies, underscoring the work these partners are doing for both the airline and the destinations.
“We believe in recognizing those who are working hard to support us,” said Air Jamaica senior executive George deMercado, who said the top producers continue to be critical to the success of the Jamaican flag carrier.
Top tour operators were Alken Tours, Inter Island Tours, LibGo Travel and Travel Impressions. On the retail side, the winners were Around the World Travel, Astral Travel, D & E Travel/ Tour De Islands, Earley Travel, Heritage Travel, Marlo Travel, and Pro Travel.
Air Jamaica provides more non-stop flights to Jamaica than any other carrier with more than 270 flights per week from Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York (JFK), Orlando, and Philadelphia in the United States; Toronto in Canada; and from London in the United Kingdom to Montego Bay and Kingston. Air Jamaica also offers non-stop service between New York (JFK) and Grenada; New York (JFK) and St. Lucia; and direct service between New York (JFK) and Barbados.

The airline's code share agreement with Delta Air Lines, its joint fare arrangements and compatible schedules with United Airlines, and other US carriers, extend its access to more than 150 cities within the continental United States.
