Trinidad and Venezuelan Coast Guards on lookout for armed bandits

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and Venezuela's Guardia Nacional are on the look-out for two armed men, who abducted a 53-year-old man and stole a fishing boat to make good their escape.
The two men reportedly snatched Samuel Griffith around 9 pm on Sunday, while he was with friends at Hatters Panyard in Embacadere Village, San Fernando, Trinidad.
He was reportedly beaten and dropped off several hours later at Beach Camp in Palo Seco, south Trinidad. Griffith, of Cocoyea Village in San Fernando, made his way to a nearby police station to report the incident.
A getaway car was said to have been used in the abduction. The car was found abandoned on Monday at Mosquito Creek in La Romain, south Trinidad. Another man, identified as Robert Nelson, later went to the San Fernando Police Station, where he reported that his 70-foot-long pirogue valued at around TT$30,000, had been stolen at Mosquito Creek.
Investigating officers believe the pirogue, which carries the name Ocean Warrior, was used by the assailants to escape.
