LOS ANGELES, USA (AFP): Former Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith's son died from a lethal cocktail of anti-depressants and methadone, a private pathologist hired by the model has found.
People magazine's online edition reported Wednesday that pathologist Cyril Wecht had discovered that 20-year-old son Daniel Smith died after taking a combination of methadone, Zoloft and Lexapro causing a heart problem.
Wecht could not be immediately contacted for comment.
Smith died in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas on September 10 after paying her a visit three days after the birth of her baby girl who she has named Dannielyn Hope.
Authorities in the Bahamas have yet to make public results of their official investigations into the circumstances of Smith's death.
Daniel Smith was an aspiring actor and often appeared on his mother's reality show on E! television, "The Anna Nicole Show."
Anna Nicole Smith made headlines with her 1994 marriage to Texas oil magnate Howard Marshall. Upon his death, the bitter battle over his billion-dollar fortune led Smith all the way to the US Supreme Court.
Smith, born Vickie Lynn Hogan, met Marshall while working as a stripper under the stage name "Gigi."
