LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Unfriendly immigration officers in Grenada

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Dear Sir:

After reading Mr Strachan's letter to the editor about Point Salines Airport, I would like to add another comment. We've visited Grenada twice now and have so enjoyed the country and people, always warm, friendly and helpful towards tourists.

I only wish I could say the same for the tourist immigration officers at the airport. They all seem so stern and unfriendly, not even an "enjoy Grenada" let alone a kind word at all. The first time it really put us off.

We were already wondering if perhaps it was a mistake coming to Grenada. Of course it wasn't, but it's not a great first impression to be sure.

I hope that someone forwards this on to the immigration department of Grenada, as you wouldn't want all the tourists coming to the cricket matches to have the same unfriendly welcome.

First impressions do count!
