Ailing Castro to host breakfast of champions for three

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

CARACAS, Venezuela (AFP): Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez Tuesday invited his Bolivian counterpart to join him for breakfast with President Fidel Castro, and suggested the ailing Cuban leader may serve up a health concoction he calls "tsunami."

"I invite you Evo for a breakfast with Fidel, who is recovering," Chavez said in a message to Bolivia's Evo Morales, who was also to attend the ongoing Non Aligned Movement summit in Havana.

"Fidel cooks well, he prepares something he calls 'tsunami', which is a combination of oatmeal, barley and wheat, and which he says saved his life," said Chavez.

Both Chavez and Morales are strong allies of Cuba's communist strongman and have visited him after he underwent surgery in July.

Late Tuesday, however, in Guatemala, President Oscar Berger said that Morales, on a visit to the Central American country, had to return directly to Bolivia for "a very important activity" on Wednesday, raising questions as to whether he would make it to the NAM summit after all.
