The committee felt that this was the avenue to go since it falls in line with the Government's mandate to develop information technology across the country, said Communications Officer within the Ministry of Housing, Culture & Social Transformation, Collin Jno-Finn.

He added that, "it is our intention that the website will serve both the local and international markets."

The website features an online replica of the programme of events, the Oversight & Implementation Committees, applications forms for the various events for Independence and a library of press releases associated with this year's Independence.

The Communications Officer said it's intended to keep the website current so that persons who are unavailable to be in their homeland for the Silver Jubilee Independence celebration can easily access information.

The website was designed by Charissa Simon of the Information Technology Centre and Jno-Finn expressed thanks to Ms Simon and the staff at the IT Centre along with Minister of Information, Dr Edmond Mansoor, for their effort in getting the site launched on time for this year's festivities.
