New water supply project opened in Dominica

ROSEAU, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, and Minister for Public Works and Public Utilities, Ambrose George, were among the many invited guests for the official opening ceremony for the long-awaited Wotton Waven/Trafalgar/Copthall Water Supply Project which took place recently.
The Wotton Waven/Trafalgar/Copthall Water Project began in February 2005 and was completed in April 2006, at a cost of $3.4 million. The project will provide the community of Copthall with potable water for the first time and replace and improve the supply systems for the neighbouring communities of Wotton Waven and Trafalgar.
The contractors on the project were local -- ACE Engineering and JARS Sales and Services Company Ltd of Dominica.
The project was undertaken by the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company Limited (DOWASCO), using a combination of their own funds and loans. The loan component was guaranteed by the Government of Dominica.
