Seventeen Eastern Caribbean students granted full scholarships in Mexico

Wednesday, August 30, 2006

CASTRIES, St Lucia: The embassy of Mexico for the OECS countries, based in St Lucia, has announced that seventeen Eastern Caribbean students have received full scholarships granted by the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), to study bachelor’s degree and postgraduate studies in fields like economics, international relations, industrial engineering, communication sciences, mechatronics and computer technology.

The successful students, who are included in the special scholarship programs that the government of Mexico has with the Eastern Caribbean states, come from Grenada, Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This scholarship programme resulted from co-operation between the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ITESM.

The scholarships were offered following a strict selection process, and those who obtained the highest averages among all the applicants were successful.

ITESM is one of the most important private institutions of advanced education in Mexico and Latin America.
