PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Two senior management officials of Trinidad and Tobago's Digicel Telecommunications group have resigned, following a reported shake up within the Group, which led to the resignation of the group's CEO Stephen Brewer and Yvonne Burke, Director of Consumer Sales and Retail.

A new CEO, Kevin White, was appointed on Thursday and will now head the Trinidad and Tobago operations.

Information from the Irish-based company says Brewer left to pursue other interests but reports reaching Caribbean Net News indicate that complaints of dissatisfaction about company policy from persons within the company may have forced the resignations.

There is also  speculation that the resignations came about because of discontent over  the handling of a   interconnection rate dispute with competitor, TSTT.

Head of the group, Colm Delves, says however he remains confident that White will be able to propel the company to the next stage of operations.

Digicel and the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) are currently locked in a fierce trade war, with each accusing the other of operating in bad faith.

The dispute escalated between the parties shortly after the Trinidad government liberalized its telecommunications sector.

The companies are still to decide on an interconnection rate. This is whether both companies should pay the same interconnect rate for the same service or whether TSTT should pay Digicel a higher mobile termination rate than what Digicel would be paying TSTT.
