First murder for 2006 in BVI

ROAD TOWN, BVI: Police in the British Virgin Islands have mounted an investigation into the first murder recorded for the year after 25-year-old Vere Brown Jr. was found dead on Tuesday morning.

According to the Police Information Office, a call was received at about 7:19 a.m. when it was reported that someone appeared to be dead at West Butu Mountain.

Police responded to the scene where Brown, of Baugher’s Bay, was found lying on the ground.

It was revealed that a person traveling in the area observed a lifeless body on the ground near a motor car and alerted Police to the scene.

Brown is the son of Chief Inspector Vere Brown Sr of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

Reports are he was found with multiple gun shot wounds and stab wounds.

Ag. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jacob George stated that at this time Police are continuing enquiries into the incident. In addition, he is appealing to the public to give any information relating to the crime.
