Trinidad gets new defence chief

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Brigadier Edmund Dillon has officially been appointed to the post of Chief of Defence Staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
He now officially assumes the responsibilities for all branches of the armed services, namely the Regiment, Coast Guard, Air Guard and Reserves.
The appointment was made in a brief ceremony at the National Security headquarters in Port of Spain on Tuesday, and was officiated by National Security Minister Martin Joseph.
Commodore Garnet Best was also appointed to the post of Director of the Defence Transformation and Integration Secretariat.
Brigadier Ancil Antoine, the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, will soon assume new responsibilities as the Director General of the Washington DC-based Inter-American Defence Board.
