CHESTER-LE-STREET, England: The touring West Indies 'A'-team defeated English county side Durham by an easy eight-wickets in their opening three-day tour match at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Sunday.

Barbadian pacer Tino Best and fellow countryman allrounder Dwayne Smith each picked up three wickets to guide the Caribbean side to an easy win on the third and final day of the match.

Jamaican fast bowler Andrew Richardson (2 for 45) and left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed (1 for10) were the other wicket takers in the second innings.

Set a winning target of just 95, West Indies 'A' quickly knocked off the runs in the 22nd over, with openers Devon Smith (38) and Sewnarine Chattergoon (20) giving the victors a solid half-century start.

Skipper Sylvester Joseph (22) and first innings centurion Runako Morton (13) then completed the damage to the home side with a 33-run undefeated third wicket partnership.

In first innings action, Ben Harmison made 105 to lead his team to a total of 310 before Morton replied with an identical score to push his team to 364. Dwayne (66), Patrick Browne (55 not out) and fast bowler Daren Powell (62) all scored half-centuries in the team's opening innings total.
