BVI to attend regional strategic planning meeting in Anguilla
Tuesday, July 25, 2006
ROAD TOWN, BVI: The British Virgin Islands will present its implementation plan for strategic planning in the public service at a two-day regional meeting in Anguilla this week.
Deputy Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office Petrona Smith will attend the meeting, which begins this Wednesday.
It will be the third project steering committee (PSC) meeting of the strategic planning project for overseas countries and territories (OCTs) of the Caribbean.
The project is intended to improve the overall capacity of participating territories to use the strategic planning methodology in the overall efforts at public sector reform and modernisation.
Ms. Smith said an implementation team is reviewing the BVI’s plan, and explained that the regional strategic planning process supports the work Government has done to institutionalise a strategic management framework in the Territory’s public service.
Apart from Smith, the other members of the local implementation team are Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office Otto O’Neal, Financial Secretary Neil Smith, Director of Human Resources David Archer and Acting Director of the Development Planning Unit Raymond Phillips.
The Anguilla meeting is being coordinated by the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD). The first two meetings were held in the BVI in January and June this year.
