OECS and OAS to establish work programme at regional level

BASSETERRE, St Kitts: The St Lucia-based Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the western hemispheric Organisation of American States (OAS) are to map out a work programme at the regional level.

OECS Director General Dr Len Ishmael and OAS Secretary General, Jose Miguel Insulza are to discuss the work programme as a result of discussions Heads of Government had with the OAS official at the St Kitts Marriott Resort.

Discussions covered issues related to funding of OAS scholarships, restoration of democracy in Haiti, initiatives for further engagement of Cuba by the rest of the OAS, and assistance with building codes policy, disaster planning and mitigation.
