Thursday, July 13, 2006

BASSETERRE, St Kitts: St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas said on Tuesday his Federal Government in Basseterre looks forward to continued good working relationship with the new Nevis Reformation Party, which won the Nevis Island Administration Elections on Monday.

“Please be assured Mr Premier, that the Federal Government remains committed to work with your Administration to ensure the continued development and improvement in the quality of life for the people of Nevis,” Prime Minister Douglas said in a congratulatory message to newly-appointed Premier, Joseph Parry, whose party won three of the five seats at stake in the local elections.

Prime Minister Douglas told Premier Parry, he looks forward to the “continued good working relationship between the Nevis Island Administration and my Government as we endeavour to build a prosperous society, and to play our part to advance the integration process at the OCES and CARICOM levels.”

Dr Douglas said the NRP victory at the polls “demonstrates that the democratic process is at work in our beautiful Federation” and his Administration stands ready to meet with Premier Parry “to discuss matters of mutual interests as together we chart the way forward.”
