BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: Twenty-six men will soon go on trial for burning down Glendairy Prison in Barbados last year during an uprising at what was then the country's only adult penal institution.

They have been committed to stand trial in the High Court by Magistrate Deborah Holder who ruled that there was enough evidence for the group to stand trial before a judge and jury.

Since March, she had been presiding over a special court sitting at the former site of the prison.

The prisoners face charges including arson and inciting arson.
