New Port-of-Spain Crew Base

To better support an expansion in service from Trinidad, Caribbean Star Airlines will establish a new crew base and maintenance facility at Piarco Airport in Port-of-Spain.  It is expected that the new crew base will be home to 30 staff, 10 pilots, 10 first officers and 10 flight attendants, while the maintenance facility will have a staff of four. As a result of the moves, two aircraft will be positioned full-time at Piarco Airport Monday-Wednesday and three aircraft Thursday-Sunday beginning July 13, 2006.

Skip Barnette, president and CEO of Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines, commented on the new crew base, saying: "With its modern facilities, cutting-edge technology and comprehensive services, Piarco Airport is an ideal home for us as we seek to expand our southern Caribbean routes."

New Caribbean Star Daily Service Between Trinidad and Antigua

Caribbean Star will create an additional convenient air link between the northeastern Caribbean and the south with the addition of new daily flights between Trinidad and Antigua.  The new service went on sale May 14, 2006 for travel commencing July 14, 2006.  Following is the flight schedule:

-- Flight #722 departs Trinidad at 1:35 p.m./arrives Antigua at 3:30 p.m.
-- Flight #779 departs Antigua at 10:50 a.m./arrives Trinidad at 12:45 p.m.

"Back in early April, we launched new daily service between Trinidad and Antigua on Caribbean Sun," said Barnette.  "The route has performed so well that we decided to add these new flights with Caribbean Star to meet the demand."

Caribbean Star Resumes Daily Service Between Trinidad and Guyana

Further expanding its service from Port-of-Spain, Caribbean Star will resume daily service between Trinidad and Georgetown, Guyana, starting July 13, 2006.  Tickets are on sale now for the following flight schedule:

-- Flight #867 departs Trinidad at 6:15 a.m./arrives Georgetown, Guyana, at 7:45 a.m.
-- Flight #870 departs Georgetown, Guyana, at 7:00 p.m./arrives Trinidad at 8:30 p.m.

Caribbean Star had previously operated flights between Port-of-Spain and Georgetown between 2002 and 2004.  The carrier also offers daily service to Georgetown from Barbados.

Caribbean Star will use 50-seat, DeHavilland Dash 8 series 300 aircraft for its new service between Trinidad and Antigua and Guyana.  As is standard on all Caribbean Star flights, in-flight service will be available to all passengers, including a choice of soft drinks and juices, as well as snacks.

Both Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun offer daily service to/from Trinidad.  Caribbean Star inaugurated service to Trinidad in October 2000, while its flights to Tobago started October 2002.? Caribbean Sun flights to Trinidad began in February 2006.

Privately held Caribbean Star Airlines Limited was incorporated in Antigua in January 2000.  Its sister airline Caribbean Sun Airlines Inc., based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, launched its maiden flight in January 2003.  With a total of 19 Dash-8 aircraft, the most recent of which was commissioned into service in January 2006, the combined Caribbean Star/Caribbean Sun fleet is the largest and most modern in the Caribbean.  A total of 20 Caribbean destinations are served by the two airlines, which transport some 80,000 people each month.
