BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: The Barbados government says it's spending at least BDS$500 a day storing the bodies of the 11 men found in a vessel floating off the coast of the island in April.

But Attorney General Dale Marshall says the authorities here want to complete all investigations into the deaths before disposing of the bodies. The boat on which the bodies were found remains in the custody of local officials who are still gathering evidence from it.

Mr. Marshall also revealed that four senior officers from the International Police Agency (Interpol), including two drawn from the Dutch Disaster Investigation Unit with wide-ranging experience in identifying badly decomposed remains, are in Barbados helping police with their investigations.

He says that Interpol team has advised that further work has to be done and a working team is to be brought in within the next week. That team will include officers who have extensive experiences regarding human remains and forensic dentistry, and several other experts.

DNA samples have already been taken from the bodies and placed in storage.
