Caribbean women called to attend faith-based workshopTuesday, May 30, 2006CASTRIES, St Lucia: Women of the Caribbean are being called to take a break from the daily stresses of life to refresh their spirits, along with their St Lucian sisters and women from North America, when the first annual Sanctuary for the Soul conference is held in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. “The Walk: Sanctuary for the Soul”, as it is called, will be staged at the brand new and award-winning boutique hotel, Coco Palm run by pioneering hotelier, Allen Chastanet from June 8 to 11, 2006. These women will network with each other and gain from the insight and experience of professional communicator and author Andria Hall , a former news anchor for CNN (Cable News Network) in Atlanta. “What we are trying to achieve is life balance. Women are constantly challenged by managing it all – their families, their marriages, their careers and their callings. This retreat will address all these areas and offer practical help,” said Hall, who made a special appeal for women from the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States), Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago to register. This breakthrough conference is the first of its kind designed to rejuvenate, refresh and re-energize Caribbean women, whom Hall says, have many daily pressures and responsibilities. She promises that by the end of the conference, women will be better equipped and more balanced to cope and conquer life’s challenges. “Balance is the key to life,” said Hall, who believes that a fresh spiritual perspective, anchored by The Word of God, is required for true success. The seminar will also have a health and lifestyle component to address the high incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease among women of color both in the Caribbean and the United States. Women also will be blessed by sessions on biblical aromatherapy for life balance, work and career, and finances. A special indulgence for the women of the Caribbean will be an intimate VIP evening gospel session to kick off the conference on Thursday, June 8 with the award-winning Carl Jenkins and X’altation, who will be flying in from New York for this event. The gospel group will minister in song to a much wider audience at a public concert for all and sundry on Saturday June 10 at Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa and Beach Resort.
