Bolt’s coach hoping for a repeat at Jamaica InvitationalWednesday, May 3, 2006by Gary Smith KINGSTON, Jamaica: Following his world-leading half-lap time at the Meeting du Conseil General NACAC Area Permit Meet on Saturday, 29 April, in Martinique, Usain Bolt's coach Glen Mills said he would love to see the 2002 World Junior champion repeat the same performance at the Jamaica International Invitational, an IAAF Area Permit Meet at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday. Looking for a repeat on Saturday "We will love to see him repeat the time (this weekend)," Mills said after Bolt's 200m run improved the previous world best of 20.13 set by American Xavier Carter on March 15. Bolt, who has struggled with injuries since running his career best time of 19.93sec in 2004, easily won that event at Stade de Dillon on Saturday in time of 20.08sec and Mills said the sprinter's injuries are now behind him even though the problem has not completely disappeared. "It is fair to say the medical problem has not disappeared," Mills told the Jamaica Gleaner. "His (Bolt) preparation has been challenging. We have to employ different methods. "Some things we tried have been working, based on what I've assessed last season and this season. We tried to do some training anti-clockwise." Exciting match up for men's half-lap crown The match up between Bolt and American Tyson Gay for the half-lap crown should be interesting. Gay finished fourth at the 10th IAAF World Championships in Helsinki, last summer and his currently the number one ranked sprinter in event, while Bolt sits at number six. Other than Bolt and Gay, the race will also feature 2001 world silver medallist Chris Williams (#4), Trinidad and Tobago's Aaron Armstrong (#9) and Commonwealth champion Omar Brown (#12). Campbell vs. Simpson in the women's The women's 200m should also be interesting as it will see a repeat of the Commonwealth Games clash between Olympic champion and home favourite Veronica Campbell and Sherone Simpson, the woman who upset her at the Games in Melbourne in late March. World 100m champion and world indoor medallist Lauryn Williams of USA is expected to lead the strong group of challengers, who will be battling with Campbell and Simpson for the title. Americans Lee and Dee Dee Trotter, known more for her 400m abilities as well as Cayman Islands' exciting sprinter Cydonie Mothersill are the other top contenders who will face the starter's gun.
