FirstCaribbean ‘Best bank in Barbados’

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: For the third time in as many years, the editors of Global Finance magazine have named FirstCaribbean “Best Bank in Barbados”.

The awards are featured every year in the magazine’s “Best Emerging Market Banks” segment, which names financial institutions that, in the opinion of the magazine’s editors, are the Best Banks in 18 markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Global Finance notes that its editors made the selection with input from industry analysts, corporate executives and banking consultants. Criteria for choosing the winners included growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative products.

“This is the thirteenth year that the magazine has selected top banking performers in emerging markets. Other sections of the report cover the best banks in Asia, Middle East and Africa, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia,” said the financial publication of the regional bank.

Joseph D. Girraputo, the publisher and president of Global Finance spoke about the current banking market. “Emerging markets are attracting increased attention as the global economy expands,” he said.

“We have identified the banks that provide service to corporations seeking to take advantage of substantial opportunities for growth in a sometimes challenging environment.”

Chief Executive Officer of FirstCaribbean, Charles Pink, said his organisation was extremely pleased at this latest honour. “The editors of Global Finance have obviously taken a careful look at our operations and based their award on what has been an outstanding year for the bank. This type of favourable assessment by an independent is always very gratifying.”

Global Finance is currently celebrating its 19th year of publishing and it has 50,000 subscribers and more than 250,000 readers in 158 countries.
