POINTE-A-PIERRE, Trinidad: Trinidad and Tobago defeated Barbados by 125 runs to claim the 2005-06 Carib Beer Challenge title at Guaracara Park on Wednesday.

The title was Trinidad and Tobago's second this season after they defeated the same opponents in Barbados to lift the regional Cup in early February.

"I am elated and I'm sure the guys in the team are happy with our efforts and performances throughout the series," Trinidad captain and West Indies opener Daren Ganga said after the game.

"We played cricket consistently well and we came out in this final and did exactly that. We knew that we were at home and we knew that we were favourites."

Resuming on 110 for four in search of 337 for victory, Barbados were bowled out for 211 on the fifth.

Barbados's skipper Ryan Hinds, the tournament's leading run-scorer, scored an even half-century, adding to Dale Richards' earlier knock of 58 as the visitors struggled against the home side's spin attack.

Left-arm wrist spin bowler Dave Mohammed bagged four wickets for 55 runs and Amit Jaggernauth took 4 for 62 to guide the home side to a dream regional double.

For hitting his first-class century, Trinidadian fast bowler Rayad Emrit was named Man-of-the-Match. Emrit slammed 112 run that helped the hosts rally from a overnight 223 for eight to 340 all out in their first innings on the second day of the match on Sunday.
