CARSON, USA: Trinidad and Tobago international Cornell Glen has joined Jamaican Reggae Boy Tyrone Marshall at U.S. Major League side Los Angeles Galaxy after Colorado Rapids exchanged the striker for their natural third round pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.
"Cornell Glen is an exciting and energetic forward who has proven he can score goals in MLS," said Galaxy Assistant General Manager Tom Payne. "He is an international quality player who we feel will fit in well with our squad."
In his two completed season the MLS, Glen has scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 41 games. He began his MLS career in 2004 with the MetroStars, (now known as New York Red Bulls) where he enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Jamaican Fabian Taylor before moving to FC Dallas and then Columbus Crew in 2005.
Glen was then traded by the Crew to the Rapids in the off-season and played 13 minutes in the opening game of the 2006 campaign. He's now a Galaxy man and team head coach Steve Sampson is delighted to have the Trinidadian on his roster.
"Cornell is a player who is always dangerous around the goal," said Sampson. "I am excited to add another national team player to the Galaxy who will help us in our goal of repeating as MLS Cup Champions.
"In addition, I would like to thank Naldo (Conceicao) for all of his contributions last year and wish him all the best in the future."
Conceicao was waived by the club in order to make room on the roster for Glen.
