Caribbean Sun and Caribbean Star Airlines introduce new simplified fares
Tuesday, April 4, 2006
FORT LAUDERDALE, USA: Caribbean Sun Airlines and Caribbean Star Airlines announced Monday that they have adopted new simplified fare structures featuring one-way pricing to better serve the traveling public. The changes are effective on all new bookings for travel commencing April 2, 2006.
William 'Skip' Barnette, president and CEO of both Caribbean Sun and Caribbean Star, commented on the changes, stating: “For the general consumer, trying to understand traditional fare structures has historically been one of the most annoying aspects of dealing with any airline. Our new simplified fare structures are designed to make it easier for our customers to get the best prices and enjoy a more pleasant overall travel experience.”
Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun simplified fare structures benefit travelers in two primary ways:
1) Travelers save money – The number of different fare classes for each flight have been reduced while lower-priced one-way fares have replaced round-trip tickets, providing more travelers with improved opportunities to get the lowest fares. Change fees for tickets on Caribbean Sun have also been reduced to $25 (previously the fee was $100) to further enhance customer care.
2) Travelers enjoy added flexibility – The switch to one-way fares enables travelers to create itineraries across multiple fare classes. For example, passengers can travel out on a restricted lower fare, and back on a more flexible higher-priced ticket that allows them the opportunity to change their return flight according to their schedule and preference. Island hopping is also now easier than ever as travelers can string together a series of one-way flights instead of trying to piece together multiple round-trip flights.
New one-way fares on Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun are now also combinable, providing travelers with the opportunity to create itineraries including travel on both carriers.
“This new fare structure really works to unite Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun like never before,” added Barnette. “We’re taking better advantage of some key efficiencies that really benefit our customers who can now enjoy a more seamless travel experience between our two carriers.”
