ST JOHN, USVI: Taking a walk on the lighter side of politics, US Virgin Islands Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen will appear on the cable television Comedy Central channel this week.

Delegate Donna Christiansen
Christensen will appear on The Colbert Report, during the Better Know a District program segment, which features a tongue-in-cheek interview with Members of the US Congress by host Stephen Cobert.

The episode was taped last month, and will air on Thursday, March 16 at 11:30 pm (EST), which is 12:30 am VI time, March 19. It will repeat on the morning of March 17, at 10:30 am (11:30 am VI time) and again at 2:30 pm (3:30 pm VI time), that afternoon. It will repeat again on Monday, March 20 at 10:30 am (11:30 am VI time), and again at 2:30 pm (3:30 pm VI time) and again at 8:30 pm (9:30 pm VI time).

The Cobert Report is a spin-off of Emmy award winning program, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and follows it on the channel's line-up. Over four million viewers watch the program.

The Better Know a District segment has been hailed as a hilarious and off-beat look at Members of Congress and the districts they represent. Stephen Colbert is reportedly The Daily Show's longest running and most diverse correspondent.

"There is so much that is serious about what we do in Congress," said Christensen.

"This is a chance to look at the humorous side of things and not take ourselves quite so seriously," she said.

"Other Members (of Congress) who have done the show before me tell me that they get a good response from their younger constituents, who usually do not pay close attention to politics. If this draws them in, I am all for it," she commented.

Christensen has recently began her re-election campaign in the US Virgin Islands.
