LETTER TO THE EDITOR

I reserve the right to form my own opinion

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Dear Sir:

Likewise, I resent Ms Roberta Cahill attempting to speak for 'most Americans' in her letter describing her 'embarrassment' for the behavior of the Holloway-Twitty families.

The Aruban government bungled the investigation of their daughter's disappearance from the get-go, and when there is no trial, I reserve the right to form my own opinion as to the guilt or innocence of the named parties.

I suppose if Ms Cahill had a daughter that disappeared under these same circumstances, she would just walk away and avoid any and all criticism of the investigation.

I'm glad she was not the mother of this girl, and hope that such a tragedy will never befall any member of her family to the extent that she might have to 'eat' her words.

The Van der Sloots had their way with this incident when in their own country, making it rather obvious they are well-connected with Dutch government officials. But their blatent arrogance led them to think they could have their way in this country, too.

Thanks to Natalee's family and their attorney, that will not happen. I doubt we will have to put up with any future visits from the Van der Sloot family.

Until I realized what contempt the Dutch had for Americans and for our own justice system, I had been a frequent visitor to the ABC islands. No more...
