LONDON, England: Reigning world 100-metres champion Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis will compete in London and Sheffield in the final preparation leading up to his world championships 100m title defence in Helsinki this summer.
Collins will first race in the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace, on 22 July before heading to Sheffield for the British Grand Prix on 21 August.
The St. Kitts and Nevis star sprinter will face former world record hold Maurice Greene of USA as well as the British duo of Mark Lewis-Francis and Jason Gardener, the world and European indoor 60m champion.
"I'm really looking forward to competing at the Norwich Union London Grand Prix," Collins said.
"The race at Crystal Palace will be a good test for me ahead of the World Championships and will play a significant part in my preparation for Helsinki," he added.
Collins was a surprise winner at the 2003 world championships in Paris and he said that his main focus now is to repeat that success in Finland.
"Retaining my 100m world title is my main focus this season and it will be good to line up against many of the guys who will make the final in Finland."
