Pre-Christmas holiday in Nevis for Duchess of York
Wednesday, December 31, 2003

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: The Montpelier Plantation Inn in Nevis has confirmed a London Times newspaper report that the Duchess of York and her two daughters were guests at the resort for a pre-Christmas break.

A Montpelier Inn spokesman said Tuesday that Sarah Ferguson, who separated from her husband, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York in March 1992, spent a night at the restored sugar plantation before moving to the Four Seasons Resort. The members of the British Royal Family have returned to London.

According to the British newspaper, the Duchess of York took her daughters for a pre-Christmas break at the Montpelier, which was a favourite destination of the late Princess Diana, the Princess of Wales.

"…it is very secluded and the Duchess likes it because it's tough territory for the paparazzi, even if they have brought their telephoto lenses," said the London Times Travel section called "Follow that Star."

The Times said Princesses Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York and Eugenie Victoria Helena "enjoyed water skiing, reading novels by the pool and walking on the hotels private beach."

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are fifth and sixth in line of succession to the British Throne.
