PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten: A historic drug bust has been recorded in St. Maarten with the snagging of 29 drug mules in one day, the Daily Herald has reported. At least seven of those busted were women, with most of the detainees being from Poland and Curacao.
The detained persons included passengers who had already been in St. Maarten and passengers who were in transit to travel to Holland.
The paper quoted Chief Customs Officer Mr. George Martis as saying that the passengers, now in detention at the police station in Philipsburg, had all been intent on travelling to Holland on an Air Holland flight.
