Sports events in Grenada

Of course, also sports events play a major role in Grenada, for example the annual LaSource Grenada Sailing Festival, which extends over five days in late January and includes sailing competitions, street fairs and craft markets. In the first week of August the Carriacou Regatta will take place. The sailing competition includes races to Grenada, Bequia and Union Island. There are also volleyball competitions, donkey races and of course - as always - lots of music. At Easter, sailors meet on Petite Martinique for a two-day regatta. Moreover, smaller boat races at different times take place in many areas along the coasts of all three main islands.

Sport fishing has its own festival: In January, the 'Spice Island-sea fishing competition' is held in Grenada. The Grendians like sporting competitions and are still quite relaxed at the yearly triathlon: They start the event with an amazing party at the night and they sleep late before rushing into the floods. After a sobering run of 0.5 miles, a 12 miles biking and a run of 3 miles follows- just to die away during a Sunday picnic with family and friends at the beach later.
