Unstable weather conditions affecting BVI

Published on Wednesday, June 17, 2009Email To Friend    Print Version

TORTOLA, BVI -- The British Virgin Islands experienced a rather quiet Tuesday morning; however, these conditions are expected to change.

A low level disturbance to the southeast is moving in an east to west direction and will pass very close to the Territory. This disturbance has the potential to produce heavy rains and gusty winds within some of the heavier rain bands. These conditions could lead to minor flooding of roads and areas with poor drainage.

This disturbance does not exhibit any signs of tropical development; however, residents are asked to exercise caution as heavy rains can impair vision while driving and operating small motor vessels at sea.
