Email To Friend Print Version | Dear Sir:
Yesterday the House of Representatives in the Unites States in the wee hours of the morning passed the health care bill, signing into law health insurance for every American.
In St Vincent and the Grenadies we have a Prime Minister spending 30 million plus on a yes vote while cancer is now becoming rampant in our society and no concern for cancer patients to receive the necessary treatment by the government of the day. We are in desperate need of a cancer centre to assist patients with chemotherapy and other necessary medications, poor people cannot afford to go overseas to obtain, and therefore, they succumb to early death. “Where there is no vision the people will perish.”
I listened to the rally from the platform of the New Democratic Party on Saturday night held in Chateaubelair; I was impressed by a young woman new to the political stage, she brought down the curtains and was very well received by the large crowd in attendance.
Anesia Richards-Baptiste was dynamic and is rocking the nation with her convictions on more reasons to vote “No”. This brilliant young woman referred to by Ralph Gonsalves as a little girl is employed by the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines and is married.
She is not afraid to speak out to champion the cause of the Vote “No” to secure the rights and freedoms of Vincentians from the selfish likes of Ralph Gonsalves and Parnell Campbell. She sent out a strong challenge for anyone who is brave enough to touch her in any way for speaking out since she is washed by the blood of the lamb and is prepared to take on Goliath. Go, Anesia, go.
I hope that Anesia has set the pace for more young women to speak up and stand firm to ensure that our Constitutional rights and freedoms given by God remain the way he intended. Sir James the most astute politician of our time hit the ball out the park, you cannot beat him on that, a very witty politician with more reasons to vote “No” had the crown roaring with laughter but made all the important points on reasons to vote “No”.
I must give Jack his Jacket, the Honorable Arhim Eustace is on the ball and has been doing a very good job on bringing the message in a very forceful way not only on the proposed Constitution but on various issues affecting our people on a daily basis and more reasons why things would get worst with a Vote “yes”. I am convinced that he is heating up and is “fired up and ready to go”, just to borrow these words from President Obama.
Ralph thought that PR was the heavyweight in the NDP and felt that with him by his side the NDP would struggle to bring out the message of vote “No” as he was convinced that Sir James was fast asleep. Your children will always be your children no matter how far they roam they will always come back home. Sir James founded this party and knows exactly when and how to rise to the occasion. I give much respect to you, Sir James, you really have it and our country owes a lot to you. You have commanded the respect not only in SVG but from many foreign nations; you have stood the test of time.
Dr Linton Lewis must be commended for peeling away at the contents of the proposed document, which no doubt has changed the minds of many, many yes voters who were not able to understand the false information given to them by some on the other side of the fence. In more ways than one many, many people behind the scenes of the New Democratic Party have made valuable contributions to bring information to the public and to you too I say a heartfelt thank you for the time and effort spent on this most important event in the time of our history.
It is my hope that Vincentians abroad are following closely the build up to the proposed Constitution which will be voted on November 25th. Thanks to Nice radio, Dougie and his team for doing a fantastic job in bringing to us in the Diaspora up to the minute reports on rallies and meetings live.
To Mr EG Lynch whose name is a household word throughout the world, the journey is long but rest assured not lonesome. Vincentians in the Diaspora listen to you daily and are very happy for the information you are bringing to us live on Nice Radio.
To Junior and Mathew, your program, with a lot of details that people were not aware of, brought new light to many.
Let us not limit ourselves to the Vote “No” if we are not supporters of the NDP. The Vote “no” does not belong to the New Democratic Party. To vote “No” will benefit all Vincentians, so matter which party you support. You have to vote “No” to protect your children and grandchildren’s future, think carefully about the many, many reasons to Vote “No”. The words “If ah been know” will be too late.
We all must join together to keep the lamp burning.
