Letter: Flawed St Vincent Constutition - yes or no?

Published on Saturday, October 3, 2009 Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

I read with interest the speech made by Vincentian Ambassador Camelo Gonsalves, the brilliant son of St Vincent’s Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves. Very good and impressive he was, however, if someone can tell us where is Mr Wise and what is the situation with the Millennium Bank registered in St Vincent and the Grenadines in which the Governor General was the Chairman I think it would have completed his speech.

Some international legal experts feel that the 2009 proposed Constitution being presented to the voting population in St Vincent and the Grenadines is flawed and should be challenged in the courts.

Any individual man or woman who is eligible to vote in St Vincent and the Grenadines has the constitutional right to challenge the validity of the proposed Constitution in the local courts if they feel that the process was not properly executed according to the rules of the house. It does not matter if this case may not be heard before the Referendum on November 25 and it does not matter how long it is dragged out.

At least we will know if these legal experts’ suspensions are correct and if they are wrong at least we would know that our rights and freedoms are not violated... This is what the courts were set for, to try and test issues that we are not comfortable with. Do not be afraid to execute your constitutional rights.

I am offering the first female to come forward to challenge the process, financial assistance will be provided to defray legal and other costs. Interested persons can contact me at telephone number 561-271-5169. Please leave a name and number if you get  voice mail.
