LONDON, England: Reggae Boyz captain Ricardo Gardner ended his goal drought for Bolton Wanderers on Sunday after scoring a goal and then assisted on the other in an important 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Reebok Stadium.
Gardner, who came on as a substitute to replace the injured Mustapha Riga two-minutes before half-time whistle, netted his first of the season for Bolton in the 77th minute.
A spirited Kevin Nolan sent Gretar Steinsson down the right flank with a delightful ball that he whipped in low for Gardner to blast home past Joe Hart off the inside of the crossbar.

Gardner and Bolton immediately grew on the goal and poured the pressure on the visitors. They were rewarded again in the 88th minute when the Jamaican international delivered a low cross from the left side, which saw Richard Dunne mistakenly firing the ball into his own goal from inside the six yards box.
The win was only the third for the struggling Bolton who climb out of the basement of the table, but are still in the dreaded relegation zone.
Under-fire Bolton manager Gary Megson was happy to see his team come away with all three points and expressed his delight with the contribute of Gardner.
"Bibi (Gardner) is one of the nicest people that you'll ever meet and the only reason he's not been in the side is that Matty Taylor's set-pieces are very good and he gives us a little bit more of a goal threat," Megson said.
"Bibi came on today and we put Matty on to the other side, and Bibi has scored the first goal and made the second. He wasn't out of the team through any other reason than we need to score goals but he's now come in and done that. I'm really pleased," he added.
West Bromwich Albion and a revived Tottenham, who on Saturday defeated the previous undefeated Liverpool, are the other teams in the red zone. | | | | Reads : 515 | | | |
