Hurricane Frances lashes Turks and Caicos
MIAMI, USA (AFP): The potentially devastating Hurricane Frances lashed the
Turks and Caicos Islands Wednesday as it headed toward the Bahamas. As
Frances passed to the north of Grand Turk with winds of 140 miles per hour,
its outer bands hit the island, causing some damage to roofs and trees as well
as power outages. Grand Turk Island reported sustained winds of 72 mph as the
eye of Frances passed to the northwest.
