Anti-AIDS campaign underway aimed at Bajan women

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: A massive media campaign, aimed at reducing AIDS and HIV among women in Barbados, is currently underway. Health officials estimate that up to one in three Bajans are HIV positive. The campaign uses reggae-style jingles, comics and soap operas and targets women between the ages of 20 and 70.

Windwards win over Canada; Barbados wins over University XI

CLARENDON, Jamaica: The Windward Islands won over Canada by 127 runs in their opening match of the Red Stripe Bowl at the Jamalco Sports Club ground yesterday. Canada scored only 69 runs from 34.5 overs in reply to the Windwards' 196 for six from 50 overs.  In Antigua, despite a rain delay, Barbados won by seven-wickets over the University XI in their Zone B match at the Antigua Recreation Ground.

Trinidad cricket club may soon admit women

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad: Women may soon be able to join the 'good old boys' network, that make up the exclusive Queen's Park Cricket Club. The 3,000 members will vote in November to change the all-male policy of the institution to include women.  For now, women are allowed as guests only on certain occasions.
