Hurricane Isabel rages stronger

MIAMI, Florida: Hurricane Isabel has now been declared a category five storm, one week after Fabian devastated the British colony of Bermuda. Late last night, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Miami said Isabel continues to rage westward with its center now located about 455 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.

Cayman Islands government grants operating licenses to nine telecommunications companies

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands: Nine operating licenses have been granted to telecommunications companies, Digicel and AT&T Wireless, Cellular One, CaymanTel, Aviation Communications Ltd., Blue Sky Communications Ltd., GrandTel Ltd., TeleCayman Ltd. and Weststar TV Ltd, to operate in the Cayman Islands.

Several Bermuda resorts closed for repairs

HAMILTON, Bermuda: Nine of Bermuda's 38 resorts have been forced to close for repairs following damages sustained during the deadly assault by Hurricane Fabian on the island one week ago, on 5th September.

Ash clean up still on in Montserrat

BRADES, Montserrat: The next phase of the ash clean up campaign in Montserrat will continue soon, thanks in part to some EC$12 million in additional aid. The clean-up continues two months following the 12th July collapse of the dome of the Soufriere Hills volcano on the island.
