Four feared dead as Fabian leaves Bermuda devastated 

HAMILTON, Bermuda: Four people, including two police officers are presumed dead at the hands of Hurricane Fabian. The officers and two civilians reportedly had their vehicles swept off a causeway on Friday, 5th September as Fabian lashed the British colony with 120 mph winds.

Antigua's PM urges return to values in fight against crime

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua: The return to sound values of respect and honour are just some of the ways of 'taking a bite out of crime.' So says Prime Minister Lester Bird, who last night, delivered the feature address at the Officer's Mess Dinner of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, held at the Crystal Ballroom of the Royal Antiguan Hotel and Tennis Club.

Jamaica government denies political asylum to eight Cuban boat migrants

KINGSTON, Jamaica: Eight illegal Cuban boat migrants who arrived in Jamaica two months ago were on Friday, 5th September, denied political asylum by the Jamaica government. The decision, according to the Associated Press, paves the way for their repatriation back to Cuba. They currently are being held at a detention center in Montego Bay.

Former Guyana PM's life celebrated 

GEORGETOWN, Guyana: Former Prime Minister, Dr Ptolemy Reid's life was celebrated yesterday at the St. George's Cathedral, as dozens, including President Bharat Jagdeo, gathered to bid farewell. It was the first leg of an elaborate two-day funeral arrangement that would span two of the country's three counties, the Guyana Chronicle reported.

Three Dominicans named to West Indies U-19 cricket squad

ROSEAU, Dominica: Three Dominicans are among the recently West Indies' Under-19 cricket squad. They are Liam Sebastien, Jean Paul and Mervin Matthew, who helped propel the Windward Islands to the runners-up spot in the just-concluded Under-19 TCL tourney in Guyana. 

Sebastien is the son of former cricket great Lockhart while Paul and Matthew are fast bowlers, reports out on Dominica indicate.
