Anguilla government meets with staff associations

THE VALLEY, Anguilla: The current economic crisis was the focal point of discussions on Tuesday afternoon between the government of Anguilla and local staff associations and unions.
In attendance from the government side was Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming, Minister of Finance and Economic Development the Victor Banks, Minister of Social Development the Hon. Evans McNeil Rogers and Acting Permanent Secretary Chief Minister.
Executive Members attended from the Anguilla Teachers Union, the Civil Service Association and the Police Welfare Association.
The government ministers all spoke to the current fiscal situation as well as possible steps being contemplated to address shortfalls in revenue including reducing expenditure. A number of new proposed measures aimed at increasing revenue for Government were also discussed.
The meeting was described as being cordial and productive and there are plans for both sides to meet again in the near future to continue discussions. | | | | Reads : 1106 | | | |
