Wednesday, December 28, 2005
KINGSTON, Jamaica: Air Jamaica and the Government of Grenada have announced that there will be 8 weekly non-stop Lovebird flights between New York’s JFK International Airport and the island of Grenada, effective February 23, 2006.
JM094 will operate Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays departing New York’s JFK at 10:30 am arriving in Grenada at 4:10pm. On the return leg JM095 will depart Grenada at 5:00pm and arrive in New York at 8:50pm.
President and CEO, Mike Conway, said, “The route has been performing exceptionally and an increase in service is good for Air Jamaica and Grenada. We are most pleased to be adding this service that coincides with Grenada’s tourism recovery.” He added, “As the airline moves to improve productivity through better utilization of its existing fleet, all feasible opportunities for expansion throughout the Caribbean are being looked at carefully”.
Chairman, O.K. Melhado announced that Air Jamaica is forging closer ties with Caribbean Star Airlines in order to give passengers easier access to the other islands that fall outside our route network.
Grenada’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Brenda Hood, thanked Air Jamaica for its quick response to her country’s need for dedicated non-stop flights to and from New York. She said Air Jamaica’s economic role in the region would become even more critical when the Caribbean Single Market and Economy
(CSME) is implemented and the need for reliable airlift, especially for business travellers, increases.
