MIAMI, USA: Hungary defeated Caribbean side Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 in an exhibition match played at Florida International University (FIU) on Sunday afternoon.
First half goals from Krisztian Vadocz and Robert Feczesin and an 80th minute strike from Istvan Ferenczi set up the victory for the Hungarians, who were beaten 2-0 by World Cup qualifiers Mexico in their previous friendly international in Phoenix earlier in the week.
The Antigua and Barbuda team, ranked number 155 in the latest issue of the FIFA rankings, went behind after 10 minutes when Vadocz’s tricky footwork saw him evading three Antigua and Barbuda defenders before firing past goalkeeper Elvis Anthony to make it 1-0.
Twelve minutes later it became 2-0 when Robert Feczesin easily redirected a Daniel Tozser's free kick with his head past Anthony, who failed adjust quickly enough.
The Hungarians, who are ranked 74th in the world, added a third 10 minutes from time through Istvan Ferenczi, who fired home from just outside the six-yards box.
