ST. JOHN’S, Antigua: Minister of Construction of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Wang Guangtao who is paying an official visit to Antigua and Barbuda, has expressed confidence in the Chinese construction team of CCECC’s ability to complete the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium in time for Cricket World Cup 2007. During a tour of the stadium site, Minister Wang who was a member of the Chinese Bid Team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics said that it is very important to the Chinese Government that the construction of the stadium is completed on time and most importantly that the World Cup Games are successful. He said that China values the relationship with Antigua and Barbuda and will work tirelessly in ensuring that the relationship is maintained at the highest level. “China and Antigua and Barbuda will continue to work closely in ensuring that our relationship grows and produces benefits for our peoples,” Minister Wang said. Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to China Sir David Shoul during the tour said that his country is proud of the relationship it has with China and will continue working towards strengthening the relations. “My government is very honoured to have a friend in the People’s Republic of China and we are very grateful that they have given us the gift of the cricket stadium. We will do our part in ensuring that construction is completed on time,” Ambassador Shoul said. Minister Wang while in Antigua will meet with Prime Minister the Hon. Baldwin Spencer, visit the Mount St. John Medical Centre and the Desalination Plant at
