Forensic doctors use DNA tests to identify victims of
Martinique air crash

CARACAS, Venezuela (AFP): French and Venezuelan forensic doctors on Monday began to examine DNA samples to help identify victims of an airline crash last August that killed 152 French citizens en route to the Caribbean island of Martinique, local media reported.
The work was being carried out at an air base in Maracaibo and was expected to take three days, said forensic doctor Morelia Quintana, quoted by the state news agency
ABN.
The crash on August 16 of the twin-engine McDonnell Douglas MD-82 aircraft killed 152 French passengers from Martinique and eight crew from Colombia. The plane departed Panama and was headed to Martinique when it plunged into a marshy area in northern Venezuela.
The bodies of three passengers and the eight crew members have already been identified and repatriated.
