ST THOMAS, USVI: Thirty-three countries will be represented at the
28th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference, which is scheduled to begin later
this week in the US Virgin Islands.
The conference, which is scheduled to run
from October 21-26, will be held on St. Thomas. The purpose of the event is to
bring together prominent industry leaders, travel agents, tourism officials
and members of the media for a forum to share ideas on technology, trends,
marketing and communications.
"We are honored to be hosting our region's largest and most prestigious tourism conference for the second time in three years," stated USVI Commissioner of Tourism and
the Caribbean Tourism Organization's Chairman, Pamela C. Richards. "We extend a warm U.S. Virgin Islands welcome to our Caribbean neighbor countries by proudly displaying their flags to make our guests feel right at home." The flags of all 33 participating, member countries are currently displayed on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie to greet the attendees.
Workshops such as, The Business of Tourism: View from the Top, The Caribbean today is the world's best known, unknown brand, and Crisis Communications for the Tourism Industry will be offered. Tourism is a key economic mainstay throughout the Caribbean, so conference planners expect those attending to benefit greatly by the information provided during the six day event.
