ST. GEORGE’S Grenada: Acting Canadian High Commissioner Ms. Joanne Goulet, has complimented the Government of Grenada for its Reconstruction and Redevelopment programs.

In a meeting held on Thursday with Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell the Acting High Commissioner said she was pleasantly surprised to see the development that had taken place in Grenada since Hurricane Ivan.

However, both Prime Minister Mitchell and High Commissioner Goulet recognized that there was still a significant amount of work to be done.

Prime Minister Mitchell thanked the Acting High Commissioner and the Government of Canada for the assistance that Canada had given to Grenada especially in the areas of Disaster Management and Mitigation, and the pivotal role they played in helping to establish the ARD.

Prime Minister Mitchell informed the Acting High Commissioner that housing was one of the main priorities of the Government. Dr. Mitchell said that he is seeking to secure more direct help for persons whose homes were affected by Hurricanes Ivan and Emily.

The Acting High Commissioner officially told Prime Minister Mitchell at the meeting that she has come to the end of her stint as acting High Commissioner, and assured him that she would update the incoming High Commissioner on Grenada’s needs.
